Sand & Stone is a residence that speaks to scale, precision, and timeless elegance. Initially designed by Argos Design and brought to life by Balcombe Constructions, this home is a showcase of carefully considered detail—inside and out.
Rylock was proud to collaborate with Balcombe Constructions, to provide custom-designed window and door solutions throughout the home. From early specification to final install, the partnership was grounded in a shared commitment to quality, clarity, and design performance.
Framing Light, Landscape & Living Zones
Throughout the home, Rylock products have been carefully integrated to enhance natural light, promote ventilation, and support seamless transitions between indoors and out.
Upon entry, you’re greeted by a striking Hinged Door framed by Fixed Lite Panels with obscured glass—offering both privacy and architectural presence. The door is fitted with a smooth-operating roller catch for a seamless flow.
In the office, a 2.6 wide Awning Window frames the view to the surrounding garden, creating a serene working space. In the main bedroom, a combination of a large Awning Window and Fixed Lite Window above the bed provides an outlook while maintaining visual softness. Translucent glass was used for both the walk-in robe and ensuite windows, adding softness and privacy to these personal spaces.
In the kitchen, a pair of Motorised Awning Windows sit in perfect symmetry on either side of the stovetop—offering a striking architectural feature along with practical ventilation and ease of use. This window configuration continues into the pantry, where a 1.8-metre-wide motorised Awning Window provides airflow while adding an elegant touch to a typically overlooked space.
The laundry features a Hinged Door fitted with an integrated security screen—adding protection while maintaining a streamlined appearance.
A 4-panel centre-opening Sliding Door forms the connect between the expansive family room and the landscaped outdoor entertaining area—spanning 4.7 meters wide to create a truly open living experience. Installed with a linear drain to achieve a flush “zero threshold” transition between the internal and external space.
A similar gesture is found in the home gym, where a sliding door opens to the outdoor shower and garden, reinforcing the sense of flow and openness.
Performance Behind the Scenes
Double glazing, high performance Low-e, advanced sealing systems, and wrap integration all contributed to the project’s strong energy performance. The home features a combination of Toughened Low-e Comfort Solution and Solar Solution glazing, with Solar Solution primarily used to the west-facing areas to assist with heat regulation. As always, Rylock’s systems were engineered and manufactured in Australia, ensuring local compliance and responsiveness to on-site needs.
Sand & Stone is a real testament to collaboration, considered design and expert craftsmanship—where every detail has been carefully curated. With Rylock windows and doors integrated throughout, the result is a home that delivers on both performance and lasting appeal.
