Louvre Window:
Realistic Performance Expectations.
Whilst Louvre Windows offer a unique blend of fine ventilation and clean-clear sightlines, it should be well understood that they offer limited weather-water ingress protection, in high wind-water conditions.
IMPORTANT: Australian Standards make an exception for acceptable Water Ingress using Louvre Windows, whereby water is allowed a contained cascade to the inner face. In certain high wind-water gusting conditions, we have experienced cases of ‘spurting’ beyond the frame. This needs to be understood and accepted as a worldly reality with these Products, and we strongly suggest their purchase and use only in areas where wet floors are deemed ‘temporarily acceptable’ following storm like conditions.
HARDWARE
Colour match clip and gallery hardware.

Frequently Asked Questions About Louvre Windows
Glass louvre windows maximise natural ventilation, offering considerable airflow and comfort in any home with adjustable glass blades that allow you to precisely control the air’s direction.
Use your louvre windows to capture breezes and channel them throughout your living space, creating a refreshing and airy atmosphere. This enhanced ventilation can reduce your reliance on air conditioning, leading to energy savings and a smaller environmental footprint.
In warmer months, strategically placed louvre windows facilitate passive cooling by drawing in cool air and expelling warm air. By optimising natural light penetration, they lessen the need for artificial lighting
Aluminium louvre windows stand out because they require minimal maintenance. The durable aluminium frames resist corrosion, warping, and fading, giving you beautiful and functional windows for years to come.
Cleaning these window frames is a breeze—a simple wipe-down with a damp cloth and mild detergent is all it takes.

Modern louvre windows are more than functional; they’re a striking architectural feature that bring a sophisticated and elegant touch to contemporary homes.
Clean lines, expansive glass panes and adjustable blades create a sense of openness and connection with the outdoors. To add an appealing touch, the interplay of light and shadow on the blades adds a unique visual dynamic that evolves throughout the day.
At Rylock, as leading louvre window manufacturers, security is a key consideration. Our louvre windows come with robust key locking mechanisms and can be further enhanced with laminated glass for added protection.
Louvre windows in Australia are a versatile choice that suits most climates. The adjustable blades provide optimal ventilation and airflow control, making these windows suitable for both hot and temperate regions.
Note: In areas prone to cyclones or severe storms, it’s crucial to choose louvre windows with high wind ratings and consider additional protection measures, such as shutters or impact-resistant glass in order to minimise the need for window replacement.
The strategic placement of louvre windows can significantly improve ventilation and natural light levels. When designing your home, consider the following:
- Orientation: Position louvre windows on opposite walls to create cross-ventilation and capitalise on prevailing breezes.
- Elevation: Install louvre windows higher up to capture breezes and allow warm air to escape, creating a natural cooling effect.
- Shading: Use external shading devices like eaves or awnings to control direct sunlight and prevent overheating, especially during summer.
- Room function: Consider the specific needs of each room when choosing louvre window placement. For instance, bedrooms may benefit from privacy glass or adjustable blades for light control, while living areas may need a specific configuration to maximise views.
Rylock does not offer a motorised Louvre window, however, there are electric operator awning window options that can be displayed in highlight positions to expel hot air.
Cleaning louvre windows is relatively straightforward:
- Use a duster or a soft cloth to remove dust from the blades.
- For a deeper clean, use a mild detergent and water solution (dry the blades thoroughly to prevent water spots).
Yes, louvre windows are suitable for bathrooms and kitchens, provided the frames are made from moisture-resistant materials like aluminium. They offer excellent ventilation, which is crucial in these areas, and can also be fitted with obscure glass for additional privacy.
