Hartlands Road

Frame Colour: Textura™ Black
Glazing: Grade A Safety Toughened Low-e Double Glazing (Argon Fill)

Nestled in the leafy eastern suburbs of Melbourne, this north-facing luxury residence is a modern masterpiece, perfectly balancing function, energy efficiency, and architectural flair. The home blends bespoke elements that elevate its contemporary appeal while ensuring optimal family comfort.

Standing tall with its strong street presence, the home showcases Rylock Textura™ Black powder coat finish, with plaster reveal offset, to create a striking and sophisticated look. The front facade features four Commercial Series Max Lite Windows each glazed with 7.5m² panes of glass. The architectural design nods to the suburb’s heritage while embracing modernity, with Rylock products play a pivotal role in the overall aesthetic and performance of the home.

In collaboration with the architect, Destination Living, Rylock ensured that all windows and doors specified met the project’s energy requirements. Grade A Safety Toughened Low-e Double Glazing (Argon Fill) was used throughout, offering superior thermal insulation, to regulate the indoor temperatures year-round, and reducing energy consumption.

The living and dining areas impress equally, with Commercial Series Sliding and Stacker Doors opening seamlessly to the outdoor spaces. A screen spreader bar was incorporated to maintain stability and function in the large openings, adding structural integrity without compromising the homes design aesthetic. Additionally, advanced hardware — such as stabilisation rollers in the Sliding and Stacker Doors ensures ease of panel movement at the largest of sizes. These doors provide a visually stunning element and a fluid transition between indoor and outdoor living, an essential feature of the home’s design.

The Commercial Series Awning Windows, featured in the study and theatre offer exceptional ventilation while maintaining a clean, minimalist appearance. In the laundry and pantry, Awning Windows ensure practical airflow, enhancing the functionality of these spaces. Premium dual seals and Truth Bar Operator Hardware on the Commercial Series Awning Windows — ensure smooth operation and long-lasting durability.

A standout feature of this home is the extensive use of expansive panels of glass, including a custom-designed 4.5m² Fixed Lite Windows in the kitchen. This floods the space with natural light, creating a bright, airy feel that amplifies the modern design.

Architectural Aluminium Series Hinged Doors add a refined touch to key areas such as the games room and laundry, providing both style and durability.

Hartlands Road stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful design, superior materials, and expert craftsmanship. With Rylock windows and doors seamlessly integrated into every facet, this home truly encapsulates modern luxury living.

GRAND DESIGNS 13.3 EDITORIAL FEATURE

Read on for a Q&A interview with Pat McLeod, Senior Sales Consultant, Rylock, who specified the products in this project:

1. What type of windows and doors were specified in Hartlands Road and in which rooms?

Rylock’s Commercial Series Fixed Lite and Max Lite windows flood the living room spaces with light, whilst Awning Windows feature across the home for ventilation. There are Commercial Series Sliding and Stacker Doors in the Living and Dining.

2. Why were these windows and doors specified specifically?

Rylock worked closely with the architects, Destination Living, to ensure the windows and doors specified met the project’s energy report; with high performance Low-E glass featured throughout the home, for the ultimate in comfort.

3. How do these windows and doors contribute to the aesthetic of the home?

In recent years, architectural trends across Australia have called for larger products with expansive openings. Rylock products are rigorously tested to exceed Australian Standards, and at the very largest of sizes, this allowed us to meet the designers’ architectural vision.
Products were set up for plaster reveal offset, often seen in modern housing construction, and frames were powder coated to Textura Black, which has excellent anti-marring qualities, ensuring the products continue to look as new.

4. How do these windows and doors contribute to the function of the home?

Large Rylock Commercial Series products draw considerable light into the home, whilst maintaining comfort thanks to the high performance Low-E glass. The Rylock Sliding and Stacker Doors in the Living and Dining, feature a sill that has been rebated for a zero threshold, this enables an effortless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.

5. Why do you think that the architect selected Rylock windows and doors over other brands for Hartlands Road?

Rylock is well-regarded in the industry, with a team of experienced sales consultants that guide customers in specifying the right products, in each room, for a project’s orientation and elevation. It’s a very considered process.

6. Rylock is known for its technological innovation in windows and doors, can you tell us a bit about the technology behind the windows and doors that are specified in Hartlands Road?

There’s a broad range of considerations, and we never stop innovating! Such as our dual-seals on all opening sashes, and our American-made latches and bar operator that feature on the Commercial Series Awning Windows are widely acknowledged as being the best hardware in class. Our Sliding and Stacker Doors feature a top-mounted stabilisation roller to minimise friction and aid smooth operation. This panel weighs more than 180kg alone! All Rylock products also feature Grade A Safety, Low-E glass as our standard specification.
